Voivodeship Teams for Counteracting Trafficking in Human Beings are advisory and consultative bodies established by individual voivodes for the purpose of coordinating preventive activities and supporting victims. The voivodeship Teams include representatives of various public institutions, law enforcement authorities and non-governmental organisations at the regional level. The participation of representatives of individual institutions depends on the decision of the voivode.
The teams established to date are composed primarily of representatives of voivodeship offices, the Police, the Border Guard, public prosecutor’s offices, labour inspectorates, labour offices, local government authorities, education authorities and educational institutions, as well as non-governmental organisations. Representatives of institutions participating in the work of the regional teams will increase the effectiveness of their activities through the ongoing exchange of information and the coordination of all initiatives undertaken, including preventive measures.
Tasks of the Podlaskie team:
- undertaking measures aimed at establishing and strengthening cooperation between local government units, non-governmental organisations and entities carrying out tasks related to counteracting trafficking in human beings;
- establishing, at the local level, a system for the exchange of information between individual institutions involved in issues related to trafficking in human beings
- assessing the phenomenon of trafficking in human beings within the voivodeship – submitting conclusions, proposals and comments concerning ways to improve the effectiveness of activities and address problems related to counteracting trafficking in human beings;
- disseminating information on trafficking in human beings among potential victims and representatives of entities providing assistance to victims;
- supporting the implementation of the National Action Plan against Trafficking in Human Beings.
