Białystok, 19.08.2025.
Esteemed Readers,
The day after the publication of the article in Gazeta Wyborcza, that is, on August 19, 2025,
the Management Board of the Foundation asked Ms. Wioletta Rebecka to respond to the information contained in the press material, as announced in a statement published on the Foundation’s website. In response, the Board received explanations regarding some of the information included in the article. It was also informed that Ms. Wioletta Rebecka is cooperating with a law firm in order to fully clarify the situation described in the article.
We would like to inform that, contrary to media suggestions, the Management Board of the Foundation did not possess any knowledge that would undermine Ms. Wioletta Rebecka’s qualifications or competences. The current situation is very difficult for us, as it harms the good name of the Foundation and jeopardizes our cooperation with other entities.
As the Management Board of the Foundation, we will continue to actively seek clarification of the situation described in Gazeta Wyborcza, within the scope of our capabilities and competencies.
Ms. Wioletta Rebecka resigned from her position as Vice President of the Polish Center Torture Survivors Foundation in August 2025. Matters that fall outside the competence of the Foundation’s Management Board are being referred to the appropriate entities.
At the same time, we emphasize that the Foundation’s activities are being continued.
Official statements of the Foundation’s Management Board on this matter will be published on our website.
With kind regards,
Izabela Trybus – President of the Foundation
Aleksandra Nędzi-Marek – Member of the Foundation’s Management Board
