24-25 November – the First International Conference Providing Holistic Care for the Survivors of Sexual Violence and Torture – Ukraine

In view of the current situation in Ukraine and the extraordinary commitment of many entities from the international community that have devoted themselves to supporting Survivors of war rape and torture in Ukraine, The Polish Center for Torture Survivors is organising a conference in collaboration with FondaIon Medicine du Monde, SEMA Ukraine, WAPP Support Project Association – Leszno, AssociaIon Defense de la DemocraIc en Pologne and the Nomada Association.

Since 24 February 2022, the date of the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, The Polish Center for Torture Survivors and other organisations have been working tirelessly to support Ukrainian Survivors. Sexual violence and torture continue to be reported and for this reason it is imperative to implement the broadest range of measures to assist Survivors of war rape and torture, as well as to build awareness of the consequences of complex trauma. The first conference of The Polish Center for Torture Survivors is dedicated to all Survivors from Ukraine. The title of our first conference is Providing Holistic Care for the Survivors of Sexual Violence and Torture – Ukraine.

In its work, The Polish Center for Torture Survivors has adopted a trauma-focused approach and a comprehensive multitiered aid programme. In our philosophy, we follow the steps developed by Dr. Denis Mukwege. We are a team of professionals operating in the fields of psychology, psychotherapy and law, who are ready to provide the support needed in cooperation with other organisations.
